Grapp Sports Res 1 Eagle Sports Res 0 - 19/11/11

After a delayed kick-off and clear in the knowledge that Eagle had a few 1st team players available for this reserve team fixture, this was always going to be a big ask for Daz Davies' men. Eagle started the better and could have took the lead but Sports manfully stepped up and stayed tight to their opposite man with excellent concentration which proved vital as the game went on. Eagle could have took the lead when Ellis' lob (after a mistake at the back) however it drifted a yard wide of Danny Macintyre's right hand post. Sports looked dangerous when they help the ball up well up top feeding the runs of Fin Todd and the craft of frontman Ryan Matthews. Skipper Mark Kane and moustachio-ed Scouser Glynn Sutton worked hard centrally to take us in 0-0 at the break.
The 2nd half was equally as testing and the defensive dedication of Sports rearguard of Paterson, McGrath & Fryman was critical to keeping the score to nil.
The game opened up and Sports took advantage. The introduction of Ranny Dhaliwal paid dividends as the forward founds spce down the right and his squared ball was flicked goalwards by Dave Coyne only for it to handled on the line by Eagle's Richie Sinker .... a penalty and a red card! All that was left was for nominated spot-kick taker Coyne to step up and slot the ball home on 88 minutes to give Sports all 3 points. Definitely Sports performance of the season taking them to 4 points off top spot in the Cheshire Reserve Division.
