A typical heavy pitch, with a hint of rain, and a demi-hurricane greated the Sports faithful at Stockton Lane this Saturday. The first half was a battle of two teams ....... versus the wind and the win clearly won .... 0-0 at the break. The second half saw Sports with the wind and took the lead with a neat finish from Josh Brand. Garswood answered back around the 70 minute mark after Sports dwelled in possession and this one looked like being a stalemate. Billy Anderson had other ideas! He and Dan Sisson chased down the Garswood backline and forced the bizarrest of own goals to give Sports the points. Sometimes you have to win dirty, and Sports did well to take all 3 points from this one.
Grappenhall Sports 1 Pilkington 1 - 14/01/2012
Grappenhall Sports went into the match looking to continue their good start to 2012 with another home win, but 10 men Pilkington had other ideas. The Grasshoppers took an early lead as young play maker Lee Mannion controversially won, then scored a penalty. Following the penalty an off the ball incident again on Mannion resulted in the straight red card of Pilkingtons strong centre back. Despite playing against 10 men for over an hour Grappenhall couldn't make the advantage pay and the away side scored a well taken equaliser deep into added time to break Grappenhall hearts.
